How Ask Linc Keeps Your Data Private and Secure

If you’re going to trust us with your financial information, we’d better be crystal clear about how we keep it safe.

Money is personal. Really personal. We know that connecting your bank, investment, and credit accounts to a new tool can feel… nerve-wracking. So let’s talk about exactly what happens with your data inside Ask Linc — and, just as important, what doesn’t happen.

We never see your bank login

When you connect an account through Plaid, the entire login happens in Plaid’s secure interface — not inside Ask Linc. Your username, password, and any security codes go directly to Plaid and never pass through our servers. We only receive a secure token that lets us request specific data you’ve approved, and we can’t use that token to log in to your bank, move money, or change anything in your account.

Your data isn’t sitting around on our servers

We don’t store your account or transaction history. At all.
When you ask Linc a question, we pull in only the relevant, real-time data from your accounts through Plaid, process it, answer your question, and then it’s gone. No long-term storage. No giant archive of your financial life.

A dual data layer for extra protection

This is where we’re not just “like ChatGPT but with your bank data.” In fact, we’re the opposite.

A lot of AI tools simply take whatever you type (or whatever data you give them) and send it straight into the AI model. If you gave a system like that your full transaction history, all of it could theoretically be inside the model’s processing environment.

We don’t do that.

Our system has two separate layers:

  1. Sensitive financial data layer — lives in a secure, isolated environment. It never touches the AI model directly.
  2. Anonymized context layer — this is the only thing passed to the AI. It’s stripped of all personal identifiers, account numbers, and any other details that could link it back to you.

That means even if someone somehow got into the AI layer, all they’d see is generic, context-level information — not your actual accounts or transactions.

We encrypt everything, everywhere

Any data that passes through Ask Linc is encrypted — both when it’s in transit (moving between your device, Plaid, and us) and at rest (when it’s stored temporarily for processing).

No selling. No shady sharing.

We don’t sell your data. We don’t rent it out. We don’t hand it over to “marketing partners.”

You control your data

Want to disconnect an account? Delete your data? You can do it at any time from inside Linc. We don’t hold your information hostage — it’s your data, not ours.

We build for trust first

From day one, security and privacy have been baked into how Linc works. This isn’t “we’ll fix it later” territory — it’s core to the product.

We’re building Ask Linc to be the kind of financial tool we’d want to use ourselves. And that means protecting your data like it’s our own — because in many ways, it is.
